Healthy Foods

The most important foods to eat are vegetables.  We rank them #1.  They are inexpensive and have the most nutrition for the size.  Every person should have at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.  For optimal nutrition, you should shoot for ten servings per day.

Vegetables and fruits are known to fight nearly every disease plaguing mankind;especially the top killers like stroke, heart disease, and cancer.  They will also control weight due to their low caloric and glycemic properties.

It does make a huge difference what you put in your body!!

Fresh Vegetables

Some people say they are not full after eating a large salad.  Consider the fact that our very thin ancestors would eat pounds and pounds of leaves daily.  Some people say up to seven pounds of leaves per day.  Go up in the forest and look around.  Do you really think people had lots of berries and pineapples to eat?  Perhaps, but it is much more likely that a lot of leaves were a main part of the diet.

Dark Green

The healthiest foods are, without a doubt, vegetables.  The best vegetables are dark green in color.  For example, broccoli, spinach, Romaine Lettuce, sprouts, wheat grass, etc.

Dark green vegetables have very low sugar content and the highest nutrition content.  This makes them ideal to control weight and insulin levels.  In addition, many of the necessary B vitamins and vitamin K are found in green vegetables.  These vitamins help to reduce inflammation; a major problem in our society.  In addition, diabetes, cancer, and heart disease will be held off.  Dark green vegetables should be eaten daily!

Yellow Vegetables

Yellow vegetables contain beta-carotene. Beta-carotene, in our body, transforms to vitamin A. This vitamin protects our eyesight.  They also have vitamin A that helps to protect the heart, protect against cancer, and is good for the skin. Good sources of yellow vegetables are carrots, pumpkin, squash, and sweet potatoes. You should eat yellow vegetables every day; period!

Vegetable Juice

Juice from a grocery store is pretty much worthless.  It has high calories and no nutrition (generally). There are some juices, like V8 that are pretty good. In reality, you will need a juicer to get some “real” juice.  It is important to note that you should eat more vegetables than juice.  You shouldn’t rely on juicing too much.

Red Vegetables

Red vegetables have lycopene.  This vitamin is known to help prevent prostate cancer Alzheimer’s, breast cancer, lung cancer, and stomach cancers.
Tomatoes and red peppers are some of the best red vegetables.  Red vegetables are also very tasty.  They are a great way to add flavor to a salad.
